Vincent Lugo Park

Vincent Lugo Park is an urban park in San Gabriel featuring multiple recreational areas across its grounds. Walking paths, playgrounds, sports fields, and landscaped gardens with mature trees create different spaces throughout the site.

The park developed from a former city landfill that was transformed into a recreational space through Vincent Lugo's work and vision. It received official recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017, marking its importance to local land reclamation efforts.

The La Laguna playground features 14 concrete sea creatures designed by Mexican-American artist Benjamin Dominguez, reflecting the artistic traditions of the local community.

The park provides picnic tables, barbecue grills, and restroom facilities for visitor convenience across the grounds. Baseball fields and designated youth activity areas allow for various recreational options for families and groups.

The site was originally a city landfill before being reclaimed and transformed into the park visitors explore today. This recovery demonstrates how community efforts can convert unused or degraded land into functional spaces for recreation.
