Fearless Girl, Bronze statue at New York Stock Exchange, United States
Fearless Girl is a bronze figure standing 50 inches (127 centimeters) tall showing a young girl with her hands on her hips positioned in front of a large building in the financial district. Her face shows a determined look while she pulls her shoulders back and lifts her chin.
The sculpture was installed on March 7, 2017, and first stood facing the Charging Bull statue, a well-known symbol near Wall Street. In December 2018, it was moved to its current location in front of the stock exchange on Broad Street.
The figure wears simple clothing and stands on a round base that explains her message about equality in business. Visitors often touch her hands or feet and take photos copying her stance.
The statue stands on an open sidewalk at the corner of Broad Street and Exchange Place, where you can visit anytime. Come early in the morning or late in the evening if you want a photo without many other people in the background.
The figure wears a ponytail that flows backward as if blown by wind, even though it is cast from solid metal. Artist Kristen Visbal modeled the face after several young girls from her neighborhood.
