130 Cedar Street, Commercial building in Financial District, Manhattan, US
130 Cedar Street is a mid-rise building in Lower Manhattan located between Cedar Street and Albany Street with 21 stories. The structure rises roughly 164 feet (50 meters) above street level and forms a significant part of the area's streetscape.
The building was designed by architectural firm Renwick, Aspinwall & Guard and opened in 1931 during rapid expansion in Manhattan's Financial District. After the 2001 events, it underwent substantial renovation and was repurposed for a new use.
Today the building serves as a hotel that draws visitors and travelers to this part of Manhattan. The conversion from an office space to a hospitality business has given the location a different purpose in the neighborhood's daily activity.
The building is within walking distance of several subway stations including Rector Street, Cortlandt Street, Wall Street, and WTC Cortlandt for convenient access. Its location in the densely developed Financial District means visitors can easily reach nearby attractions and services on foot.
Seven additional stories were added to the original structure during its conversion to a hotel, combining older and newer architectural elements. This expansion is visible on the facade and demonstrates how historical buildings can meet contemporary needs.
