125 Greenwich Street, Residential skyscraper in Financial District, New York City
125 Greenwich Street is a tall residential tower in the Financial District with 77 floors holding hundreds of apartments. The building features continuous floor-to-ceiling glass throughout, offering river and cityscape views from the units inside.
The tower opened in 2019 as part of a shift toward residential development in Lower Manhattan. This project marked when the Financial District began transforming from an office-only neighborhood into a mixed-use community.
The building brought residential life to a neighborhood that was primarily commercial, introducing everyday people and families into a financial hub. This shift changed how the district feels and functions beyond business hours.
The building sits right on the Hudson River edge and is easily walkable from nearby streets in the Financial District. The area has good access via multiple subway lines and public transit options for getting around the neighborhood.
The tower rises from a remarkably small footprint on the ground, designed to grow upward rather than spread outward in a crowded neighborhood. This clever approach to space demonstrates how architects solve the puzzle of building in densely packed Manhattan.
