Easton Area Public Library, Public library in Easton, US.
The Easton Area Public Library is a public library system with a main location and branch facility serving the community. Both buildings provide access to books, media, computers, and meeting spaces for visitors to borrow materials and study.
The institution began in 1811 as a private library company and received funding in the early 1900s to construct a new building. That structure at Church Street still functions as the library's main headquarters today.
The Marx Room houses the region's largest collection of local history materials, making primary sources and genealogical records available to visitors interested in northeastern Pennsylvania's past.
The facilities are easily accessible on foot and offer plenty of seating for work and study. Staff members are available throughout the day to assist visitors with using the library's resources and services.
The library preserves a flag that was raised during a public reading of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. This artifact directly connects the building to an important moment in American history.
