The College Hill Residential Historic District spans 366 acres along McCartney Street, Pierce Street, and Pardee Street, containing 855 historic buildings.
The land was initially allocated in 1736 by Benjamin Eastburn for Thomas Penn, with the southern portion later becoming part of College Hill.
The residential area features multiple architectural styles from 1830 to 1940, including Renaissance, Colonial Revival, and Italianate designs throughout the neighborhood.
The district maintains fifteen main streets with local businesses, specialty stores, and restaurants that experience increased activity during Lafayette College academic sessions.
Lafayette College has acquired twenty percent of the district properties over thirty years, indicating a substantial institutional presence in this historic area.
