Terjit

Terjit is an oasis in the Adrar region with palm groves lining a stream that flows through a mountain gorge. The water emerges from natural springs and creates vegetation in an otherwise rocky landscape.

The oasis formed where underground water reaches the surface and has attracted people for centuries. Over time it became a gathering place for important regional ceremonies and celebrations.

Local Berber communities continue to live and work in the oasis today. Their daily presence shapes how the place functions and how visitors experience it.

Entry requires a small fee and tent accommodations are available within the palm grove. Arriving early in the day gives you more space and time to enjoy the natural springs without crowds.

A natural swimming pool fed by the springs sits tucked between rock cliffs and date palms. This cool water reserve is one of the few places in the area where swimming is possible.
