Sayidat al-Nejat Cathedral in Baghdad, Catholic cathedral in Al Karadah al Sharquiya district, Baghdad, Iraq
The cathedral building incorporates the shape of a boat with a large cross raised as a mast supporting an arch-shaped sail.
The cathedral opened in March 1968, replacing a primitive church constructed in 1952 during the migration of Christian families from central Baghdad.
The cathedral features a mosaic depicting the coronation of Virgin Mary, created by a Muslim artist in 1994, representing interfaith collaboration.
Wood paneling covers interior pillars and walls, with a wooden band above the nave containing carved names of the 2010 attack victims.
The cathedral maintains a memorial room displaying photographs, sullied sacred objects, and personal belongings of Fathers Thaier Abdullah and Wassim Sabieh.
