Chaldean Catholic Archeparchy of Bagdad

The Chaldean Catholic Archeparchy of Baghdad functions as the central ecclesiastical jurisdiction for Chaldean Catholics, covering multiple parishes across the Iraqi capital.

Established on April 20, 1553, the archeparchy underwent territorial changes in 1954 when it transferred some areas to form the Chaldean Catholic Archdiocese of Bassorah.

The archeparchy maintains services in Syriac and Arabic languages, preserving ancient liturgical traditions while serving approximately 150,000 Catholics in the region.

The archeparchy headquarters operates from the Cathedral of Mary Mother of Sorrows, with administrative offices located at P.O. Box 6112, Al-Mansour, Baghdad.

Twenty-nine priests, ninety-three nuns, and nine monks contribute to the ecclesiastical activities, maintaining the East Syriac Rite traditions within the archeparchy.
