Langkawi Sky Bridge, Cable-stayed footbridge at Mount Mat Cincang, Malaysia
The Langkawi Sky Bridge is a footbridge on Mount Mat Cincang that stretches 125 meters (410 feet) and rests on a single central pylon rising 82 meters (270 feet). The structure sits at an elevation of roughly 700 meters (2,300 feet) above sea level and connects different viewpoints along the mountain ridge.
Construction began in August 2003, with helicopters used to lift building materials onto the mountain. Work was completed in February 2005, and a renovation in 2015 introduced a glass walkway section.
Named after the Langkawi archipelago in the Andaman Sea, the curved structure follows the natural contour of the mountain ridge. Visitors use the two triangular viewing platforms to observe the surrounding forest canopy and coastline.
Visitors reach the bridge by taking a cable car from Oriental Village to the summit, followed by a roughly ten-minute walk along stairs. The path can become slippery during rain, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
The central pylon was installed using helicopters that lifted each piece individually onto the mountain summit. The glass section was added in 2015 and allows visitors to look straight down into the valley below.
