Sultan Yahya Petra Bridge, Road bridge in Kota Bharu, Malaysia.
Sultan Yahya Petra Bridge is a road bridge in Kota Bharu that crosses the Kelantan River and links three regions together. The structure allows traffic to flow between Wakaf Bharu, Kota Bharu, and Kubang Kerian.
Construction began in 1965 by Kien Huat Private Limited and finished in 1967, making it Malaysia's first toll bridge. The project marked an important shift in regional transportation infrastructure at that time.
The bridge bears the name of Sultan Yahya Petra ibni Sultan Ibrahim, a ruler of Kelantan who dedicated the structure to local transportation development.
The bridge experiences heavy traffic between 5 PM and 7 PM when most people travel to or from work. Plan extra time if you need to cross during these peak hours.
Two additional one-way bridges were added on either side of the original two-way structure during the 2010s. This expansion effectively doubled the crossing capacity of the original span.
