Faro de Punta Caldera

Faro de Punta Caldera is a wooden lighthouse standing at the southern tip of Caldera Bay with a square structure. The tower rises approximately 18 meters and emits white flashes at regular intervals to guide maritime traffic.

The lighthouse began operating in 1868 as a crucial addition to maritime safety infrastructure along Chile's coast. Its construction coincided with rapid growth in national shipping activities.

The lighthouse serves as a familiar landmark for fishermen and sailors departing from Caldera. Its position at the bay entrance has become part of the local coastal identity.

The lighthouse sits about 2 kilometers west of Caldera and can be reached on foot or by vehicle. Access conditions may change depending on weather and tidal patterns in the area.

The structure was built entirely from wood, a rare construction method for lighthouses in the region. This building technique makes it a distinctive example of early Chilean coastal infrastructure.
