Estadio Municipal de Huanta, Sports stadium in Huanta, Peru.
The Estadio Municipal de Huanta is a sports stadium located in the Andes at about 2,691 meters (8,829 feet) elevation with capacity for around 5,000 spectators. It has three grandstands, locker rooms, a running track, tennis courts, and broadcast facilities for radio and television coverage.
The stadium was built in 1974 and received its current name in 2010 to honor former mayor Manuel Eloy Molina Robles. Major renovations at that time updated and modernized the facility.
The stadium serves as a focal point for regional football competitions where local fans gather to support their teams. It hosts matches that draw crowds from surrounding areas who come to watch Primera División del Perú games.
The stadium is centrally located in Huanta and easy to reach on foot from most areas. Visitors should prepare for the high altitude, which can affect walking and breathing.
During Peru's internal armed conflict in the 1980s, the stadium temporarily served as a military base. This period in the facility's past reflects the difficult times the region experienced.
