Tirana Zoo, Public zoo in Farkë, Albania.
Tirana Zoo is a zoological facility in Farkë situated between Grand Park and the Botanical Gardens on approximately 6 hectares of ground. The grounds contain enclosures with bears, lions, llamas, monkeys, wolves, and foxes spread across the property.
The zoo was established in 1966 as Albania's first and only zoological park at that time. Since its founding, it has remained an important recreational and educational destination for Tirana's residents.
The zoo serves as a gathering place where families from Tirana spend weekends introducing children to different animal species and teaching them about nature. On weekends, visitors fill the grounds, making it a social space for parents and children alike.
The zoo opens Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with most visitors arriving on weekends. Visiting on a weekday allows for a quieter experience and better chances to observe the animals without heavy crowds.
The zoo creates a link between three green spaces: Grand Park, the Botanical Gardens, and its own grounds form one continuous green corridor within the city. This connection makes it an integral part of Tirana's network of outdoor spaces.
