Tirana Olympic Park, sports arena in Tirana, Albania
Tirana Olympic Park is a multi-purpose sports complex in the Albanian capital, with facilities for football, tennis, volleyball, basketball, weightlifting, and track and field. The grounds include both training and competition areas alongside changing rooms and shower facilities.
The site was formerly known as the Dinamo Complex and served in 1999 as a shelter for people displaced during the Kosovo conflict. It reopened in June 2017 after being redeveloped in two phases, starting with the sports fields and followed by additional facilities.
The park is used daily by school groups, youth teams, and amateur athletes who train on the courts and fields. Walking through the grounds, visitors notice a mix of age groups sharing the space at different hours of the day.
The park sits close to Tirana's Grand Park, making it easy to reach on foot or by public transport from the city center. Visiting during daytime hours gives the best chance of finding training sessions and events in progress.
The park's opening was marked by a basketball game between former national team players from Albania and Kosovo, an event that had no equivalent in the region at the time. This choice of sport and participants gave the inauguration a meaning that went beyond a typical ribbon-cutting ceremony.
