Tsaghkadzor ski resort, Mountain ski resort in Kotayk Province, Armenia.
Tsaghkadzor ski resort is a mountain ski area in Armenia, with runs extending from forested lower slopes up to around 9,200 feet (2,800 m). The terrain covers easy, intermediate, and difficult slopes connected by a network of chairlifts.
The resort opened in the 1980s during the Soviet period, when the area was developed as a sports hub. After independence, the facilities were gradually modernized and expanded over the following decades.
The medieval monastery of Kecharis sits at the edge of the ski area and is visible from the slopes. Visitors who take a break from skiing can walk to it in just a few minutes from the lower lifts.
The skiing season generally runs from December through April, with the most reliable snow conditions in the middle of winter. Beginners and families will find the lower slopes more accessible, while steeper runs are higher up.
The ski area sits next to an Olympic sports complex that is still used for athletics and other disciplines today. This makes Tsaghkadzor one of the few places where a ski resort and an Olympic training facility share the same grounds.
