Satani bridge, Natural arch in Tatev, Armenia.

Satani bridge is a natural arch made of travertine that spans across the Vorotan River and reaches several dozen meters in width. The formation emerged from mineral-rich water sources and sits within a gorge containing caves and water pools.

The arch formed over centuries as mineral-rich water and calcium salt deposits built up on both sides of the Vorotan River. This slow process gradually created the natural structure we see today.

The bridge holds a place in local storytelling, passed down through generations of people living near the Vorotan River. Visitors can sense today how this location lives in the imagination of those who grew up here.

Visitors can reach the mineral water pools beneath the bridge via stairs, and parking areas are available near the swimming locations. It makes sense to bring comfortable shoes and swimwear, as the site invites bathing.

The site contains karst caves with stalactites and is surrounded by colored rock walls that give the Vorotan canyon its visual character. These geological features make it a place where water and stone are constantly reshaping the landscape.
