The Residential Building of the Academy of Sciences at 9 Mashtots Avenue is a four-story stone apartment block in central Yerevan, designed in 1939 by architects Samvel Safarian and Mark Grigorian. Its facade carries memorial plaques naming the scientists who lived there, among them orientalist Joseph Orbeli, the first president of the Armenian SSR Academy of Sciences.

Built in 1939 to designs by Samvel Safarian and Mark Grigorian, the four-storey block housed staff of the Armenian branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences. When that branch became the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR in 1943, the building's residents included its first president, the orientalist and archaeologist Hovsep Orbeli. On 7 October 2004 the Armenian government listed the house as a cultural heritage monument.

Memorial plaques on the facade name the scholars who lived here, among them Joseph Orbeli, the orientalist and archaeologist who became the first president of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR in 1943, and the philologist Stepan Malkhasyants. The building was put up in 1939 for staff of the Armenian branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

The building stands at Mesrop Mashtots Avenue 9, on Yerevan's main avenue. It is a four-story walk-up with no public lift, and the entrance is directly from the avenue sidewalk. Visitors view the facade and memorial plaques from the street; the residential floors are private.
