Mucusso National Park

The national park encompasses 42,000 square kilometers of open woodland, seasonally flooded grasslands, and diverse ecological zones along the Cuando River.

The territory became protected in 2011 through National Assembly Decree No. 38/11, merging the former Luiana and Mucusso reserves into one national park.

Local communities near the park maintain traditional practices while participating in conservation initiatives to protect the natural environment and wildlife.

Visitors should obtain permits and guidance from park authorities due to the presence of unmapped areas and ongoing demining operations throughout the territory.

The park forms part of the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area, connecting protected regions across multiple southern African nations.
