Bismarck tower in Concepción, Chile

The Bismarck tower on Cerro Caracol is a stone structure topped with a commemorative plaque displaying a portrait of the German chancellor. The monument rises above the hilltop and serves as a visible landmark from the surrounding area of Concepción.

Construction of this tower took place in 1921 as part of a broader movement to honor German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck across the world. It represents one of the few such monuments built outside of Germany during that period.

The structure lost its upper section during the 1949 earthquake but managed to retain its base through later seismic activity in the region. Despite this damage, the monument still displays its original form and commemorative inscription to visitors today.
