Corte de Apelaciones de Chillán, Appeals Court in Chillán, Chile
The Court of Appeals of Chillán is a judicial institution in the Ñuble Region that occupies a modern Justice Center building at the intersection of Yerbas Buenas and Vega de Saldías streets. The court handles appellate cases across the entire Ñuble Region and extends its jurisdiction to the Tucapel commune in the neighboring Biobío Region.
The court was established in 1937 and initially operated from the first floor of the former Ñuble Intendancy building until its destruction in the 1939 earthquake. Following that disaster, the institution moved to the Public Services Building where it remained for many decades.
The court maintains transparency in the Chilean judicial system by allowing citizens to attend sessions and observe legal proceedings in action.
The modern Justice Center offers a central location that is easily accessible from different parts of the city and provides clear orientation for visitors. Those wishing to observe court proceedings or obtain information should check in advance about current opening hours and access rules for the building.
The court relocated to its current location in 2023, leaving behind the premises where it had been housed for nearly 80 years. This recent move marks a significant turning point in the institution's history as it adapted to a modern judicial facility.
