St. Michael's Cathedral, Gothic Revival cathedral in Rikitea, French Polynesia

The limestone and plaster structure of St. Michael's Cathedral spans 48 meters in length, 18 meters in width, and rises 21 meters high.

Father Cyprien Liausu initiated the construction of St. Michael's Cathedral in 1839, working with local craftsmen to complete the building by 1848.

The cathedral's interior displays local craftsmanship through mother of pearl decorations and an altar adorned with black pearl engravings.

The cathedral underwent extensive renovation works between 2009 and 2011, with a total investment of 4.5 million euros for structural improvements.

The cathedral's capacity of 1200 people exceeds the current population of Rikitea, making it the largest religious structure in the South Pacific.
