Chimkowe, Cultural and sports center in Peñalolén, Chile
Chimkowe is a cultural and sports center in Peñalolén with a central hall that accommodates up to 2,000 people on fixed and mobile seating. The building features a professionally designed stage, several multipurpose rooms, and approximately 2,500 square meters of green spaces for various activities.
The center was designed by architects Gubbins Arquitectos and Nicolas Loi, opening its doors on September 26, 2008. This marked the creation of a new community and events space for the neighborhood.
The name comes from the Mapudungun language and means meeting place, reflecting its role as a gathering space for the community. Throughout the year, visitors can attend exhibitions, lectures, and workshops held within its walls.
The venue is easily accessible and offers flexible space configurations to suit different event types and visitor numbers. Visitors should take advantage of the green areas to spend time outdoors before or after an event.
The architecture combines concrete, glass, and metal in a modern design that demonstrates efficient use of space. This construction allows the venue to host events of vastly different formats and sizes, from small workshops to large gatherings.
