Municipal Theatre of Santiago

The theater building features classical architecture with a main hall supported by marble columns and decorated with ornate bronze and crystal chandeliers.

French architect François Brunet de Baines designed the Municipal Theatre, which opened its doors on September 17, 1857 with a performance of Verdi's Ernani.

The Municipal Theatre serves as the residence for the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra, Santiago Ballet Company, and Santiago Municipal Choir throughout their performance seasons.

The theater maintains 1500 seats distributed across the main floor, four levels of balconies, and offers guided tours with advance reservations.

Despite experiencing multiple fires and an earthquake throughout its existence, the theater continued operations and underwent complete reconstructions each time.
