Manuel Montt, who served as President of Chile from 1851 to 1861, resided in this house which later became the birthplace of future president Pedro Montt.
The building represents a significant period in Chilean architecture, showcasing the transition from colonial to neoclassical styles during the nineteenth century.
Visitors can find the monument in central Santiago, with the first floor now functioning as a commercial gallery called Galeria Merced.
The property received its national monument designation through Supreme Decree 1640 in 1981, preserving a portion of the original nineteenth-century structure.
