Palacio Subercaseaux, Historical monument near Plaza del Teatro Municipal, Santiago, Chile

Palacio Subercaseaux is a palace in Santiago featuring French architectural elements, a tall mansard roof, and large windows set within a landscaped garden on Agustinas street. The building now serves as the headquarters of the Chilean Air Force Officers Club.

Banker Francisco Subercaseaux Vicuña commissioned this palace in 1901 with architect Miguel Ángel de la Cruz Labarca. The building was constructed during a period of significant economic growth in Santiago.

The interior displays refined rooms with golden moldings, large mirrors, and marble fireplaces from Carrara. The decoration reflects the wealth of the family who lived here.

The palace now serves as an officers club headquarters and is typically accessible to visitors with authorization or on scheduled tours. It is recommended to obtain advance information about opening times and access requirements.

The building features a music room specifically designed for Juana Browne de Subercaseaux with direct views of the Municipal Theatre. This connection between the private residence and the theater was a special feature for a family fond of attending operas and concerts.
