Tres Cañones Regional Conservation Area

The protected territory covers 39,485 hectares of land with rock formations ranging from 80 to 250 meters in height along the Apurimac River tributaries.

The area contains archaeological remains of Mauka Llaqta, which served as the capital of the K'ana nation during the time of the Inca Empire.

Three farming communities - Cerritambo, Mamanihuayta, and Manturca - maintain traditional agricultural practices while managing over 1,500 inhabitants within the conservation zone.

Located five hours from Cusco city, the park offers outdoor activities including kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, horseback riding, and camping throughout the protected grounds.

The territory houses multiple microclimates supporting native species like Andean deer, vicuñas, condors, pumas, and the Raimondi's puya plant.
