Sinqa, Mountain summit in Cusco Region, Peru
Sinqa is an Andean peak in the Cusco Region that rises to approximately 4,400 meters and offers views across the surrounding high terrain. From this location, visitors can see the mountain ranges and valleys spread across the landscape near Cusco.
The name originates from the Quechua language and refers to a physical characteristic of the mountain. During the colonial period, alternative spellings of the name were recorded in Spanish documents.
The mountain is regarded as a sacred peak in indigenous belief systems and is still treated with great respect by local communities today. People from the region visit the summit for religious and spiritual purposes.
Access to the summit requires good physical preparation and acclimatization to the altitude, since thin air can be demanding. Multiple routes lead upward from different locations in the surrounding provinces.
