Wilson Pinheiro Binational Bridge, Border bridge between Cobija and Brasileia, Bolivia and Brazil

The Wilson Pinheiro Binational Bridge spans 154 meters across the Acre River, connecting the cities of Cobija in Bolivia and Brasileia in Brazil.

The bridge opened on August 11, 2004, following a $2 million investment and an inauguration ceremony attended by presidents from Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru.

The structure bears the name of Wilson Pinheiro, an environmentalist from Brasileia, and represents a symbol of cooperation between Bolivia and Brazil.

The bridge measures 8.60 meters in width and allows vehicles and pedestrians to cross without document checks, simplifying travel between the two countries.

A free trade zone called Zofra Cobija operates on the Bolivian side, attracting buyers from Rio Branco who travel 230 kilometers for lower-priced goods.
