Sangay volcano, Active volcano in Ecuador
Sangay is an active stratovolcano located in central Ecuador.
It has been erupting continuously since 1934, making it one of the longest erupting volcanoes in the world.
The volcano's name means 'fearful' in the indigenous language of Quechua.
Despite its continuous activity, Sangay National Park attracts adventurous tourists for hiking and wildlife viewing.
Sangay is one of the few volcanoes in the world that hosts a large population of mountain tapirs.
