Reserva Laguna del Diablo, Natural reserve near city center in Ushuaia, Argentina.
Reserva Laguna del Diablo is a protected nature reserve near downtown Ushuaia centered around a glacial lagoon. The site combines the lake with surrounding forest and wetland areas into a single ecosystem.
The provincial government created this protected area in 1991 through legislation to preserve this important landscape. Municipal actions that followed reinforced its conservation status over time.
The name refers to the indigenous Yámana and Selk'nam peoples who lived in this region long before European arrival. Visitors encounter interpretive signs explaining how these communities adapted to the harsh climate of Tierra del Fuego.
Access is from Avenida Leandro N. Alem with clear signage marking the entrance. Walking paths and information boards help visitors navigate and understand what they see.
The lagoon freezes during winter months and becomes a natural ice surface that once drew skaters. A fire in 2016 damaged the facilities, and ice activities have not resumed since then.
