Established on June 5, 1882, before La Plata's foundation, the park occupies the former location of the Martín Iraola estate marshlands.
The Martín Fierro amphitheater, built in 1949, hosts outdoor performances with 2,600 seats for theatrical productions, dance shows, and concerts.
The Natural Science Museum, Astronomical Observatory, and Zoo offer educational experiences through guided tours and interactive exhibits.
The Garden of Peace, relocated from Teatro Argentino in 1982, stands as a symbol of community connection within the park grounds.
