Yverá Wetlands, Ramsar protected wetland in Corrientes Province, Argentina

The Iberá Wetlands extend across 13,000 square kilometers of lakes, marshes, and waterways in northeastern Argentina, forming South America's second-largest water reservoir.

Indigenous Guaraní communities established settlements near these waters during the 9th century, naming the region I-Berá to reference the water's reflective quality.

Local inhabitants maintain traditional practices of water navigation through the wetlands using wooden canoes carved from native tree trunks.

The wetlands receive visitors through multiple entry points, with Colonia Carlos Pellegrini serving as the main gateway for guided wildlife observation tours.

Recent conservation efforts have successfully reintroduced jaguars to the wetlands after a 70-year absence, restoring the natural predator-prey balance.
