Aguaragüe Integrated Management Natural Area

The Aguaragüe Integrated Management Natural Area spans 108,307 hectares across mountains and forests, containing both national park and management zones.

The Bolivian government established this protected area in April 2000 to preserve the easternmost major Sub-Andean mountain range and its surrounding ecosystems.

Local communities maintain traditional practices utilizing native tree species such as Horco quebracho and urundel for various purposes within designated areas.

Visitors access the park through connecting roads from Tarija, with options for guided tours, hiking trails, and wildlife observation throughout the year.

The protected area functions as a water regulation system, storing precipitation and controlling river flows that supply water to Villamontes, Yacuiba, and Caraparí.
