Fuente Talavera de la Reina, Spanish ceramic fountain at Praça Montevidéu, Porto Alegre, Brazil

The Talavera de la Reina Fountain features Spanish tiles in cobalt blue and ocher yellow colors, with a central round basin and four dolphins.

The Spanish community presented this fountain to Porto Alegre in 1935 to commemorate the centenary of the Farroupilha Revolution.

The fountain represents the connection between Spanish and Brazilian cultures through its ceramic work by artist Juan Ruiz de Luna.

Located at Praça Montevidéu 10, the fountain marks kilometer zero of Porto Alegre and stands in front of the Municipal Palace.

The original upper basin of the fountain, damaged in 2005 protests, remains on display in the Municipal Palace basement.
