Canasvieiras

Canasvieiras is a beach neighborhood in Florianópolis stretching about 2.5 kilometers with white sand and clear waters in a curved bay. Modern buildings, shops, and restaurants define the area, making it a popular spot for swimming and dining.

The area began as sugar cane plantations in the 19th century when Azorean settlers arrived and built the Nossa Senhora das Necessidades church. These immigrants shaped the earliest settlement and established roots that would grow into the neighborhood today.

The neighborhood keeps its fishing traditions alive through local restaurants where fresh seafood remains central to the daily food culture. This connection to maritime work shapes how residents and visitors experience the place today.

An integrated bus terminal connects the neighborhood directly to downtown Florianópolis, making it easy to reach other parts of the city. Hotels, shops, and a round-the-clock health center are nearby for whatever visitors might need.

The neighborhood is home to Sapiens Park, a technology and innovation center that mixes research facilities with environmental preservation areas. This project brings together modern development and nature conservation in an unexpected combination.
