IMS Paulista, Cultural center on Paulista Avenue, São Paulo, Brazil

The IMS Paulista building rises 15 meters above street level with translucent glass walls and a distinctive red wooden exhibition box visible from the exterior.

Walter Moreira Salles established the Instituto Moreira Salles in 1992 as a nonprofit organization for cultural development across multiple locations in Brazil.

The institute maintains a collection of two million photographs, 21,000 phonograms of Brazilian music, and extensive literature archives from notable Brazilian authors.

The eight-floor cultural center contains exhibition spaces, a library, an auditorium, a cinema, and reading rooms accessible via escalators and a central staircase.

The building design incorporates modular steel framing with a suspended red MDF-paneled volume that creates a sheltered walkway underneath for pedestrians.
