Cine-Theatro Central, Art Deco theatre in Juiz de Fora, Brazil

Cine-Theatro Central is a theatre on Praça João Pessoa, on Rua Halfeld, designed by Raphael Arcuri in an eclectic style with Art Deco references on the facade and neoclassical interior ornamentation. Its 2,160-seat auditorium has a wide pillarless span supported by a metal structure brought from England. Italian painter Angelo Bigi decorated the interior with mythological scenes and medallions of Wagner, Verdi, Beethoven and Carlos Gomes.

The building was created by the Pantaleone Arcuri Industrial and Construction Company and opened in 1929 with an orchestra performance and silent film screening. This opening marked a significant moment for the cultural development of the city during the early 20th century.
