Estádio Palma Travassos, Football stadium in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil
Estádio Palma Travassos is a football stadium in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, with covered stands surrounding a full-size playing field and a running track along the perimeter. The venue holds around 17,000 spectators and is one of the main sports facilities in the city.
The land was donated in 1961 by Francisco de Palma Travassos, after whom the stadium is named, and construction began shortly after. The venue opened on November 10, 1964, and has been a central part of football in the region ever since.
The stadium is home to Comercial Futebol Clube, one of the most recognized clubs in the region. On match days, supporters from Ribeirão Preto and nearby towns fill the stands and bring a strong sense of local pride to every game.
The stadium sits on Avenida Plinio de Castro Prado and can be reached by car or local bus without difficulty. The running track is generally open to athletes and joggers when no event is scheduled, though it is worth checking in advance.
In 1972, the stadium hosted the last professional match of Garrincha, one of the most celebrated footballers in Brazilian history, a draw between Olaria and Comercial. No other venue in Brazil can claim to have been the stage for the final game of his career.
