The Francisco Schmidt Coffee Museum occupies the old main house of Monte Alegre farm on the University of São Paulo campus in Ribeirão Preto. Its collection includes a coffee processing machine, a set of mills, and beans of different types, alongside objects illustrating the daily life of immigrants, enslaved people, and coffee barons.

Plínio Travassos dos Santos created the museum to honour the coffee plant, gathering objects with funds from the municipal administration. He installed the collection in the old headquarters of the Monte Alegre farm and inaugurated it in 1955, naming it after Francisco Schmidt, the coffee baron who had owned the farm. The museum and its collection were later listed as municipal heritage.

The exhibits show how coffee shaped the economy and social life of Ribeirão Preto and gave the city its identity. You can see how coffee farming changed the region and its people over many generations.
