President Tancredo Neves Administrative City, Modernist government complex in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
The President Tancredo Neves Administrative City is a government building complex in Belo Horizonte featuring several interconnected structures with concrete and glass in geometric forms. The buildings spread across a large area with green spaces positioned between them.
Oscar Niemeyer designed this administrative headquarters in 2010 to bring together all state departments of Minas Gerais in one location. The complex resulted from the need to centralize government offices that were previously scattered.
The architecture reflects Brazilian modernism, with open spaces that invite people to move through and linger. The complex shows how buildings integrate with green areas to become part of the daily rhythm of those who work here.
The complex is easily accessible with parking facilities and good connections to public transportation for visitors. Keep in mind that many areas are restricted to authorized personnel and certain zones can be busy during daytime hours.
Natural green corridors with native Brazilian plants run between the buildings, providing staff with places to walk and breathe. These planted pathways are part of the design concept and separate the different administrative buildings from each other.
