Museu Atelier Homero Massena

The Museu Atelier Homero Massena is housed in the former residence of Brazilian painter Homero Massena and contains his paintings, sketches, and personal objects arranged in their original layout. The rooms display both finished and unfinished works alongside everyday items that belonged to the artist.

The house served as both residence and studio for the painter from 1951 until 1974 and gained official heritage protection in 1979. It opened to the public as a museum five years later in 1984.

The museum is named after a notable Brazilian painter whose studio remains much as he left it, offering insight into how a 20th-century artist actually worked and lived. Visitors witness the creative space of someone whose work shaped local art circles.

The museum sits in a residential area and is easiest to reach on foot or by a short taxi ride from downtown. Expect stairs since it occupies a vintage home with multiple levels.
