Praia da Sereia, Beach in Praia da Costa, Vila Velha, Brazil

Praia da Sereia is a small beach in the Praia da Costa neighbourhood of Vila Velha, set between Praia do Governador and Pedra da Sereia, where an isthmus separates it from Praia da Costa. Sheltered by islands and rocks, its calm water and short shoreline make it one of the busiest beaches in Greater Vitória. The whole length is urbanised, with buildings and a promenade behind the sand.

Vila Velha was founded in the 16th century during early Portuguese exploration and represents one of Brazil's oldest European settlements. The beach is woven into this colonial past.

The beach's name comes from the Pedra da Sereia, a rock formation at one end that an isthmus separates from Praia da Costa. The urbanized shore has a promenade along its full length, backed by many buildings.

The beach is easily accessible during daylight hours with clear landmarks such as the palm grove and parking entrance. Water conditions vary throughout the day and season, so timing affects your experience.

Praia da Sereia was the first and only beach in Espírito Santo to receive the international Blue Flag certification, awarded for the 2021/2022 season; only 22 Brazilian beaches held the label that season, and the Blue Flag was raised on site.
