Caiapônia is a municipality in Goiás, Brazil, spread across varied terrain intersected by multiple rivers including Caiapó, Bonito, Paraíso, Peixe, Piranhas, Verdão, Claro, and Doce. These waterways cut through the landscape and shape how the land is organized and used.
The area was founded in 1845 as Torres do Rio Bonito and gained municipal status in 1871. It adopted the name Caiapônia in 1943, marking a shift in how the settlement identified itself.
