Dunas de Marapé

Dunas de Marapé is a beach complex where the Jequiá River meets the Atlantic Ocean, with expansive white sand stretching across the waterfront. The area features different zones for swimming and offers views of both river and ocean waters.

This region was part of São Miguel dos Campos until 1998, when Jequiá da Praia became an independent municipality. The separation brought local governance and development directly to the area.

Local fishing communities practice traditional crab catching in the mangroves, and visitors can observe these age-old methods during their time here. The work reflects how people have lived off this land for generations.

Access requires crossing the Jequiá River by raft, with an entrance fee that covers parking, food, and beach facilities. Plan to spend time in both river and ocean areas to experience the different water conditions.

Natural pools form during low tide alongside the river and ocean waters, creating a third type of swimming environment at this location. These temporary water formations offer a different experience from typical beach swimming.
