Museu Casa Histórica de Alcântara

The Museu Casa Histórica de Alcântara is a history museum housed in a colonial mansion at Praça Gomes de Castro. The collection spans furniture, silverware, porcelain, clothing, and accessories displayed throughout multiple exhibition rooms.

The house was recognized as cultural property in 1986 and transformed into a city museum. The collection documents the lifestyle of a family that held importance in the region for generations.

The museum displays how rural aristocracy lived during the 19th century through their furniture, ceramics, tiles, and personal belongings. These objects tell the story of their daily routines and social customs.

The museum is centrally located at Praça Gomes de Castro and easy to find. Note that the facility is currently closed for renovation work.

The building is part of a three-building complex that preserves the past of the square. This context makes it an important place for understanding local history.
