João Alfredo

João Alfredo is a municipality in the Agreste Pernambucano region with an area of about 133 square kilometers, situated about 121 kilometers from Recife. The town sits at about 328 meters in elevation and spans an area between the Goiana and Capibaribe rivers.

The town was named after João Alfredo Correia de Oliveira, an important statesman during Brazil's imperial period. The name honors this significant historical figure from the 19th century.
