Ribeirão

Ribeirão is a municipality in Pernambuco state located roughly 87 kilometers from Recife in northeastern Brazil. The town center sits at a modest elevation where tropical vegetation surrounds residential and commercial areas, with the Sirinhaém River passing through the region.

Originally a district within Gameleira, the locality gained independence as a municipality in 1928. This separation allowed the region to develop its own administration and manage local affairs independently.

The municipality organizes the Agosto Dourado campaign, focusing on infant nutrition education and maternal health support throughout the community.

Public services are concentrated around Praça Estácio Coimbra in the town center, where you can find administrative offices open on weekdays. The relatively flat terrain makes it easy to navigate the core areas on foot.

Agriculture dominates the local economy with sugarcane, bananas, and manioc thriving in fields irrigated by the Sirinhaém River. These crops shape the landscape you see from the town and reflect what people depend on for their livelihoods.
