Gaibu beach

Gaibu is a beach in Cabo de Santo Agostinho featuring soft sand and clear water bordered by rocky cliffs and natural rock formations. The shoreline stretches across several areas, each with its own character and swimming conditions.

The region formed during the colonial period as a strategic Portuguese settlement point in Pernambuco. Over time it developed into a meeting place for fishing communities and eventually a destination for local visitors.

The name comes from the colonial period when this area was an important fishing and trading hub for the region. Today you can see how locals use the beach as a gathering place, with vendors selling traditional snacks and fresh drinks.

Regular buses from Recife reach the beach via the southern coastal route, making it easily accessible. Wear comfortable shoes as the path down includes uneven ground and some rocky sections.

The beach maintains steady waves year-round, making it a reliable spot for surfers no matter the season. This consistency happens because of the local geography and ocean currents that shape the coastline.
