The Basilica of Our Lady of the Rock is a religious building in the Santo Antonio district featuring Renaissance Revival design with Corinthian elements throughout. Its interior is adorned with marble reliefs and frescoes that span the entire structure.
French Capuchin Franciscans first established an oratory here in 1665. The current building was constructed between 1870 and 1882 by Capuchins from the Veneto region.
The basilica displays artworks created by Italian and Brazilian artists that remain visible today, shaping the interior and reflecting the connection between Europe and Brazil. These pieces are woven into the sacred space where visitors walk and pray.

This building is the only one in Pernambuco constructed in Corinthian style, drawing from a church in Venice. Such European influence is rarely found elsewhere in Recife's cityscape.
